What is Seesaw?
Seesaw is a multimedia journal that empowers students to showcase what they’re learning at school. We use the Seesaw App throughout Lowwood Primary School from Nursery to Primary 7. Each teacher creates an online classroom where they can post homework tasks, reminders or updates on events online for all the children and parents/guardians in that class to see. Students also can add work to their own personal online portfolio. This then can be instantly shared with parents/guardians, who can comment and respond to their child’s work.
Throughout the school year, Seesaw builds an organised, digital portfolio of each student’s learning, accessible by teacher, student and parent. Videos and photographs can also be uploaded to Seesaw and saved as an example of work for teachers and parents to see.
Seesaw keeps parents/guardians in the loop by giving them a real-time, personalised glimpse into their child’s school day, via automatic iOS or Android app notifications, text message or email. Parents/guardians can comment on children’s work and praise them.
Moreover, if attending a visit or a trip, Seesaw can help to keep parents involved in the visit through sending updates of what is occurring on the trip. Hence, Seesaw meets the needs of all parents. Seesaw is a window into the classroom that strengthens the link between home and school and allows parents/guardians to further support their child's learning.
Mrs. Darrah and Miss. Gault run a 'Seesaw Clinic' at the start of the school year for any parents who may require assistance in accessing their child's Seesaw journal. If you require assistance mid-year, then please telephone the school and request an appointment with Miss. Gault or Mrs. Darrah who will be happy to help you resolve any issues you are experiencing with the Seesaw App.
Learn how to get started on Seesaw! Families will learn to log in, connect to their child's journal, and engage with their child's learning right in Seesaw. Families will also learn how to message with the teacher!
